And my favorite keyboard is…
June 4th, 2008
When it comes to keyboard, I am very picky, especially with the touch sensitivity. I’m kinda softy when typing and I hate to press hard on keys like on a typewriter. I love laptop keyboards, and it’s usually hard to find the same feeling with desktop ones. Moreover, with every keyboard I’ve had, the feeling degraded with time, even faster than I originally thought. A couple months ago, it was time again to get a new keyboard…

Since it’s been released, I’ve been lurking on the new Apple Aluminum Keyboard, so I bought it. And the first and only thing you notice about it is it’s remarkably thin. It even feels like it’s a joke, that it’s a fake one. The design is extremely simple, nothing fancy, but it’s elegant: aluminum on top, shiny white plastic on the bottom, one USB port on each side. These ports are seriously handy if you have lots of USB devices! The rubber pads on the bottom are very efficient and the keyboard really sticks on the table. I also love the fact that it doesn’t have an extravagant shape, and that there are no programmable keys that I wouldn’t use, nor a screen… it’s not a spaceship dashboard, it’s a keyboard, period.
But let’s talk about what I care for: touch sensitivity. Well… it’s amazing! I just love it. I know that some of you prefer to hit hard on keys, then the Apple Aluminum Keyboard is definitely not for you. But for those who love laptop keyboards, I can assure you that this keyboard is the deal.
The switch I made to the Apple Aluminum Keyboard has been almost as important as the switch to optical mouse. Sometimes I wonder how I’ve been able to work over 10 years with ball mice, and I start to feel the same with that keyboard.
