Quick thoughts on the iPhone 3G and MobileMe

June 11th, 2008

I won’t repeat what you can read everywhere about the upcoming iPhone 3G and MobileMe, but I guess you’d be surprised if said nothing about it so I’m gonna be quick.

iPhone 3G
I’ve never used an iPhone yet ’cause… you know… I live in Canada and it’s too expensive to import, and I don’t want to hack it. So I’ve been waiting for an official announcement, that came on Monday. I’ll try to get the iPhone 3G on its release date, July 11. I just hope Rogers won’t offer crazy plans… by crazy I mean expensive, with a low data transfer limit, as some people think here.

Also, I’d bet that other mobile phone manufacturers are seriously starting to worry. The iPhone is going to be very cheap for what it is, and it’ll offer so much more, with the best interface on a mobile phone. That’s a real bargain.

MobileMe
MobileMe looks pretty interesting, but I wonder if it’s worth the price if you only use it on a single computer. I guess we’ll get the most out of it when we have a computer and an iPhone. That way, we’re sure they’re always both synchronized. Of course other services exist for free, like Plaxo or even Gmail + Google Calendar, but MobileMe is made by Apple, which means it’s gonna be super easy to use.

So there you have my thoughts on Apple’s monday announcements, what’s your opinion about it, I’m curious to know, and I’d be glad to debate with you guys.
