Back from the Montreal Apple Store opening
July 25th, 2008
Today was the grand opening of the Montreal Apple Store. I had to get there! Here are my first impressions.
The store opened at 5pm today, and when I walked by at 5:30pm, there was a long line of people waiting, so I decided to get in later. At 7pm, the line was the same, but it looked like people weren’t waiting a lot, so I stepped in.

While entering in the shop, the Apple crew cheered and gave people freeĀ T-shirts. Then you’re in the wild. The store is pretty big, and extremely spacious, all open space. A nice glass stairs leads to the second floor that is almost as big as the main one.

I was impressed by the number of Apple people in the shop, I didn’t count them but I’d say they were around 40, they were all around. I talked with 6 of them, all very kind and willing to help. I think I knew more about Apple than a couple them though. Anyway they were passionateĀ and that’s the most important.

I got out of the store an hour later, with an excellent first experience. I’ve never seen a store opening with that much enthusiasm. I’m lucky to live close to the store, this is going to be one of my favorite places downtown Montreal.
A word on the free T-shirt
Apple got it SO right, they know their customers, just check out the picture below. A hockey stick with Apple headphones wrapped around, well done Apple!

Great story! Very nice T-shirt! Great pictures! I especially like the picture with the big logo over the city from afar. I hope that tomorrow when I stop by the store, there still is one or 2 t-shirts left for me.

Thanks!
I didn’t even notice the city behind the logo, I was focusing too much on the apple.
